The instructors for the Metro-Detroit CPA Exam Review are primarily from Walsh College, which emphasizes high-quality instruction and preparation for the CPA Exam. Walsh students have continually scored high marks on the CPA Exam and have won numerous state and national awards. The instructors are constantly updating their lecture materials to keep students informed of recent FASBs, SASs, and IRS rulings. 


Richard D. Berschback, MBA/CPA

is the Distinguished Associate Professor of Accounting at Walsh College, where he has been an accounting professor since 1980. He has taught Intermediate Accounting and Auditing for over 30 years and has administered the CPA Exam in Michigan and Maryland. Rick has public accounting experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young. He received the first annual Accounting Educator of the Year Award in 2002 from the Michigan Association of CPAs. He also earned the MICPA 2003 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award.

Dan Hoops, JD, LLM

is an adjunct tax and business law professor at Walsh College and former Chair of Accounting and Tax departments at Walsh College. Dan is a graduate of Michigan State University School of Law (formerly Detroit College of Law) and earned an LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School Of Law.  Dan has been engaged in the practice of law and business consulting since 1995.

Kathy Konon, MSPA/CPA

is a former Assistant Professor of Accounting at Walsh College. She received her bachelor’s degree in Finance from Florida State and her master’s degree in Accounting from Walsh College. Kathy has several years of experience at Plante Moran; she then was in management positions at three Metro-Detroit school districts.
